Incident report

A Buxton Seach Dog unit was called to assist Derby Mountain Rescue Team to search for a missing man.

The 37 year old man, from Stoke On Trent, had last been seen in the morning of the previous day and the police had cause to be concerned for his safety. It was believed that the missing man was possibly in the area of Ashover, near Matlock. A coordinated search of the dense woodland in the surrounding area was undertaken.

Thirty eight Mountain Rescue volunteers, supported by seven specialist search dog units started searching on Friday afternoon which continued into the night in appalling weather conditions.

The man was not located within the areas searched. Police are continuing with their enquiries.
