Please add Tescos blue tokens to your shopping list

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team is bidding to bag a massive cash boost from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative.

We are one of three groups shortlisted by the organisers to receive the cash award and shoppers are being invited to head along to Tescos to vote for who they think should take away the top grant.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team is looking for extra funding for our “Essential Communications Equipment Upgrade” project, which is all about a new digital radio system, to replace the old analogue radios currently in use.

Digital communication technology brings significant improvements and additional features to this essential piece of equipment.  In addition to clearer communications overall, the radios also come with a GPS, and with the ability to send emergency text messages.

The new digital radios will improve the speed and effectiveness of our operations and will have a positive impact on our voluntary service, and as such will benefit all those we are called on to help.  So far this year has seen an increase in over 20 % in call outs for the mountain rescue volunteers, and new digital radios will help to team members to provide better communications to assist those who need our help.

Voting is open in the Tesco store in Whaley Bridge, SK23 7PB and the Tesco Express in Buxton throughout September and October 2018 and customers can cast their vote using a blue token available from the check-outs in store each time they shop.

Every little token helps.  Please don’t forget to ask for yours.

Thanks
