Been there, done that and raised over £3,000

Hassan Pillai set himself to raise £2,500 for Buxton  Mountain Rescue Team.  The Challenge was to cycle the 600 mile route from Mizen Head to Malin Head in Ireland.

He’s been there, done that, beat the target.  What next?    Hassan wrote to Buxton MRT;

“Dear friends and supporters of BMRT,

I missed out on sending you updates as I progressed through Ireland, you may not be a friend on Facebook, so you get this now that I am back and steadily catching up with the past fortnight’s offerings at home – lots of leaves to rake and lawns to cut; nice chores. Bike having a bit of a rest  from me as much as the roads.

What a fantastic experience this has been. Really recommend it and Ireland’s Wild Atlantic coastline. We covered 651 miles over the 12 days and I tell you Irish roads, even the out of the way tracks, are wonderful. Alderley Edge has much to learn from them…..

So, with an average of around 55 miles per day, we climbed some very steep hills and mountains, had a puncture, had a swim in the cold Atlantic (me waving), took lots of pictures and spoilt some with my presence. The weather was changeable including some pretty extreme stuff, getting fitter by the day once warmed up. We had fantastic support, much needed for the wide mix of fitness and ability. Cyclists from America (California, Hawaii, Texas), Spain, Scotland, Ireland and England, which all added to the experience.

I dedicated my ride to my lovely and dear friend, Sue whom I have only known for the past five years. ‘Irrepressible Suzy’ is a very apt description of her. For you Sue, mine is the easy bit.

Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. I am very pleased to say that the Buxton Mountain Rescue Team will benefit with over £3,000 when all sponsorship is in. Wow!!! Thank You “

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team sends a huge, huge Thank You to Hassan for the fantastic effort he put into raising money for the team.   £3,000 is a terrific result and a major donation for the team which we promise to spend very wisely.    We’re so pleased you were able to complete the grueling objective safely.  You deserve a rest.   The team also wants to acknowledge the support Hassan’s friends gave him and to everyone for their generous donations.    THANK YOU.
