Day Two — 7 marathons in 7 days!

Yes, he’s off on day one of a truly marathon event, seven marathons in a week, toBen day 1 2 raise money for Buxton Mountain Rescue Team.

Ben Brindley, of Tideswell, believes the work the rescue team does is amazing and wants to help them out by raising money and awareness. The 33-year-old said: “They are an emergency service but rely solely on donation. I have always given to the charity as an insurance policy but now I want to do more.”

Previously, the most the dad-of-one had run in a week was 73 miles, but completing the 26.2 miles of a marathon every day will take his total up to more than 180. He said: “I became a dad seven months ago and my running took a back seat, so it is going to be really hard to push myself to that kind of distance but it will be worth it.”

As a father working for himself, Ben did not want his challenge to take him too far away from home – so he will be running around the Peak District between Sunday June 12 and Saturday June 18. Ben is a member of Tideswell Running Club and will be shadowed by some of his running buddies.

“I have timed it so there will be days when I am running when the club is on, and will do the last five miles with them which will be great,” he said. During his seven days, Ben will be taking part in the Grindleford Fell Race, by which time he will have completed around 100 miles.

The challenge will finish with Ben taking part in the new Ladybower Marathon on the Saturday.
