On Wednesday afternoon, Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called to Pooles Cavern to assist the East Midlands Ambulance Service.
A 46 year old male from Newmarket, Suffolk, was walking with his family in Grinlow Woods when he collapsed, hitting his head on a rock as he fell to the ground, sustaining head injuries.
He was treated on site by ambulance service paramedics, placed onto a stretcher and carried by team members to the waiting ambulance in the car park. From there he was transferred to Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport, for further treatment.

Dear Buxton MRT
I am writing to offer my heart felt thanks for the help you provided last Wednesday 24th August. For some unknown reason I collapsed whilst walking at Pooles Cavern and unfortunatley in this process hit my head against a rock knocking myself unconscious. After spending two days in Stockport hospital I am now at home in Suffolk on the mend.
You did a fantastic job in supporting the ambulance crew getting me down to the car park and without this who knows what would have happened.
My family and I very much appreciate your help and the all the great work you do
Best regards
Jon Brooker
