Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called by West Midlands Ambulance Service after receiving a 999 call reporting a fallen climber at The Roaches, Upper Hulme, Staffordshire.

A 27 year old female novice climber fell to the ground when her climbing protection failed. The fall resulted in an open fracture of her lower leg.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called following the report of a man having fallen five metres from a steep woodland path in Great Shacklow Woods.

A seventy year old man from Bolton was on a weekend walking break with family and friends when a simple slip resulted in a significant tumble down a very steep bank.  Medical examination was started by team members who determined the possibility of a back injury.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to support Edale Rescue Team, most of whose members were engaged at an annual social event.

East Midlands Ambulance Service had requested assistance following the report of a collapsed male casualty.  Edale team soon had a doctor on scene as part of the East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme and other available members quickly followed.   Despite everyone’s efforts and full advanced life support techniques, attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful.

Most Buxton members were stood down whilst still on route to the incident. It was a sombre conclusion to the evening and both rescue teams send their most sincere condolences to the casualty’s family.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called together with two Search & Rescue Dogs following the report of an elderly lady with her son benighted somewhere in the Lathkill Dale area.

An 84 year old lady from Buxton together with her son had gone for a walk along the Limestone Way from the Moor Lane car-park near Youlgreave when darkness descended.  They became disorientated and finally lost in the steep sided wooded valley.  Police were alerted by a relative but had little information to work on.  It wasn’t until after midnight when the son managed to get a phone signal from the valley that the …

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to assist the East Midlands Ambulance Service with an incident near Litton Mill.

A family on holiday, staying locally in the Litton Mill area were walking alongside the River Wye in Water-Cum-Jolly Dale when they heard  something rushing towards them from the limestone cliffs nearby.  A rock the size of a small football was rolling at speed towards them on the path.  The family group, from Melton, Suffolk, included a 50 year old lady, her husband and a 3 month old child in a pushchair.  The lady instinctively covered the pushchair with her body to protect the child and …

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called by East Midlands Ambulance Service following the report of an injured walker on Combs Edge.

The casualty, a 36 year old lady from Manchester, suffered a simple slip resulting in a suspected fracture of the ankle.  Following treatment by team members and an E.M.A.S. paramedic, the lady was carried along the edge towards Castle Naze and down to the waiting ambulance.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called together with Kinder Mountain Rescue Team when three ladies reported themselves lost on Kinder Scout.

Buxton team set up Control for the third time in four days at Edale railway station car-park to plan a search of the south western corner of the plateau.  Three ladies, two on holiday from Canada and another from Lincoln, had set off on the first part of the Pennine Way from Edale with the intention of staying the night at Snake Inn.  The party found their way …

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team alerted by Derbyshire police following a 999 call from a man reporting himself lost on Kinder Scout.

The 18 year old student from London, staying locally in the Peak for a few days, had been for a walk on to Kinder Scout from Grindlslow Knoll.  Using a local walks guide leaflet for navigation he made his way along the southern edge of the plateau before becoming disorientated around the Woolpacks area.  After several attempts to locate himself he eventually called for assistance.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called following a report of a lady who had sustained an arm injury whilst walking in the Woolpacks on the Kinder’s Southern Edge path.

A 57 year old lady, visiting the area on holiday from Australia, slipped on steep wet ground and suffered a dislocated fracture of her ankle.
