Buxton snatch called to evacuate a 54 year old female from Sheffield who fell ca 2 metres down a walled bank when a sprung gate flipped back. The casualty who had also been briefly unconscious had pain in her left shoulder and upper chest and was treated on site by MR members before being evacuated by stretcher to the roadhead where she was taken to Chesterfield Hospital with a suspected dislocation of the left shoulder.
Buxton team called to back up Edale team who had been called to a fallen climber on Millstone Edge. A lead climber took a fall and decked out when the fixed peg he was using as protection sheared and failed. The team was stood down en route when it was clear Edale had sufficient personnel to deal with the incident.
Buxton, Edale, Kinder and SARDA called when a group of 6 young men from Manchester rung for assistance after having become lost on Kinder Scout. A mobile phone conversation with the incident controllers suggested that they were likely to be on the Southern Edges of Kinder Scout, but given the very poor visibility, the more traditional method of searching was used to find the party. The party were located by Buxton Search Dog Megan, her first operational find, and after a quick check over were escorted off the hill by members of Buxton team, none the worse for their experience.
Buxton Edale snatch squad called after a 25 year old mountain biker from Doncaster was thrown from his cycle when he applied his disc brakes and found them to be extremely effective on the terrain. The casualty sustained shoulder injuries and was treated on site by MR members before being evacuated by stretcher to Hollins farm for onward transport to the Northern General Hospital.
Buxton and Edale teams along with SARDA called when a couple from Birmingham rung into the ambulance service after the male in the party sustained an ankle injury whilst jumping in a dry river bed. Both teams and SARDA were called when it became apparent that the couple were not sure of their location. A Buxton section deployed to search up towards Grindslow Knoll located the couple half way up the Knoll on the sledge track. The casualty was treated on site by team members before being evacuated by stretcher …
Buxton team called by EMAS to assist with the evacuation of a casualty who had fallen from a quad bike. The team were stood down on arrival when East Midlands Ambulance Service were able to gain access to the casualty.
Buxton team called to evacuate a 32 year old male from Macclesfield who had been leading a climb and hit the ground when his protection failed. The casualty, who had lower back pain, was treated for spinal injuries and evacuation by stretcher to the top of the crag and evacuated by air ambulance to the Northern General hospital where a further examination revealed that he had in fact been most fortunate and only sustained severe bruising.
Buxton Edale snatch squad called to attend a 33 year old paraglider who crashed below Bretton Edge. Despite resuscitation attempts by bystanders and members of the teams, sadly, the casualty did not survive the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Buxton team called to evacuate a 69 year old female from Leeds who slipped on a muddy path and sustained an ankle injury. The casualty was treated on site by team members and EMAS paramedics before being evacuated ca 1 mile to the roadhead by stretcher.
