Incident report

It was with a sense of deja vu that the team was called out to Stanage Edge for the second time in two days. Two friends were enjoying a walk and exploring the Stanage area. The day time temperature was very hot, and there is little shade on the moorland.

Unfortunately, one of the walkers became unwell and was unable to continue. Edale Mountain Rescue Team received the request for help, and due to this being a mid-week call out, called Buxton Mountain Rescue Team out assist. Team members made their way to the casualty’s location as quickly as possible.

Due to the location and condition of the casualty, a Maritime and Coastguard Agency Helicopter 912 was requested. The casualty was treated at the scene before being transferred to a mountain rescue stretcher and carried to the waiting aircraft for onward transport for further medical treatment.

Team members walked off the moorland to the vehicles and began the process of cleaning the equipment that had been used, and re-hydrating, on what was a very hot day, especially from team members adhering to the Covid 19 ppe requirements.
