Incident report

The Team’s last call of 2019 began at just before 5.00 pm in the evening on New Years Eve.

Just as everyone was getting ready for their New Year Eve celebrations, the team received a callout to look for a missing walker, unsure of their location and somewhere on Kinder Scout. At the time, fog and low cloud meant the visibility was down to a few yards.

The walker had set off from Edale but had got lost on the Kinder Plateau. Initially their location couldn’t be determined so Kinder Mountain Rescue Team was also tasked to help search the Kinder plateau from the Hayfield side.

As the teams set out, from both Edale and Hayfield, the location of the missing person was determined to be near Kinder Low End. A Kinder MRT section located the casualty who was walked down to Edale Cross where they were transported down to Hayfield in a KMRT landrover.

Buxton MRT were stood down at just before 8.00pm, with team members being able to get back to their families and the New Years Eve celebrations.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team would like to thank all our friends and supporters and hope you have a great 2020!!

See you next year.
