Incident report

Whilst some of our team members were fundraising in Castleton, they were approached by a member of the public who alerted them to an injured walker, in Cave Dale, close to their location. They quickly stowed the fundraising equipment and set off, calling out the rest of the team, and our colleagues in Edale Mountain Rescue Team.

The walker was swiftly located and team members started assessing the casualty, who had suffered a lower leg injury. The leg was splinted before they were transferred to a mountain rescue stretcher for the short carry down to a local car park. They were then assisted into a friend’s car for onward transport to hospital.

The equipment was then cleaned and put away, ready for the next callout.

We hope the casualty is able to enjoy walking in the Peak District again soon.
