Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called to the Roaches following reports of a fallen climber.

Three friends from Leicestershire were spending a day climbing when this incident occurred on the crag behind Rockhall Cottage. One climber, a 25 year old male, fell about 6 metres when the protection above him failed. His next protection luckily held him and his climbing partner was able to lower him to the bottom of the crag.

An ambulance service paramedic, and a police officer were already on scene dealing with the fallen climber who was standing up when MRT arrived. The only visible signs of injury were a small cut to the back of his head and bruising to his legs.

He was walked down to the ambulance waiting at Roaches Gate, and was fully checked by the crew.
