Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue called out to an injured walker on the outskirts of Hartington after dark on Christmas Eve. Derby Search and Rescue were also at scene.

The casualty, a 68 year old man from Birmingham, who was staying with friends at Hartington YHA, had a knee problem which had become progressively worse during a walk.  He was treated on site by team members and carried by stretcher to Bridge End Farm, where he was transferred to a Derby team vehicle and driven to the road end to await an ambulance.

The ambulance transported the man to a hospital in Chesterfield for further treatment.
