Incident report

A joint Edale Buxton snatch squad was called at lunch-time to assist the ambulance service for an injured walker.

The casualty, a 65 year old man, was part of a walking group from m Chesterfield. They set off to walk along the edge just above Surprise View.
The weather was cold and underfoot conditions were icy. The man slipped over a rock, sustaining a head injury. This made him inactive and confused. He was treated on site by paramedics, and then carried on a mountain rescue stretcher for about 200 metres over moorland to a waiting air ambulance.

The casualty was airlifted to the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, for further treatment.
