Kinder Low

Search Dog Megan with handler Dave Mason called in support of two teams searching for two mature men who had spent the night on Kinder Scout.  Dave and Megan got as far as Coldwell Clough before they were stood down when the men were located by helicopter.

Temple Fields, Buxton

Initially a call for Buxton Mountain Rescue Team which later asked for assistance from Edale MRT when insufficient numbers responded.

A 78 year old lady, part of a walking group visiting the area from The Wirral, slipped in the wet conditions suffering a suspected fracture to the ankle.  Her walking companions were unsure of their exact location giving rise to some delay in the arrival of the ambulance and the rescue team.

Grindsbrook, Kinder Scout

A call for the Joint Buxton and Edale MRTs’ Snatch Squad following the report of a child and father in possible difficulties in Grindsbrook river.

Following heavy rain Grindsbrook was in spate and a father and 11 year old daughter became separated whilst attempting to cross.   The rescue teams were alerted by the father when he was unable to reach his daughter on the opposite bank and had already lost his rucksack in the attempt.

The teams responded searching both banks until the couple were located and guided safely back to Edale village.

Lose Hill Lane, Hope

Buxton and Edale Joint Team Snatch Squad call-out to assist a 25 year old male walker on the footpath from Hope to Lose Hill summit. 

Buxton team members had just returned from a training exercise and were at base when the call was received which created a rapid response.

The man had suffered a suspected fracture of the right ankle.  He was treated on site by rescue first-aiders before being carried by stretcher to a waiting ambulance which took him to a Stockport hospital.

Jacobs Ladder

Buxton & Edale joint snatch squad called out to assist a mountain biker on Jacobs Ladder.  Regrettably, most of Buxton Team were on a training exercise in Staffordshire but six other members were still able to assist Edale Team who had responded to a man suffering severe chest pains.

Rescue medics treated the casualty, a man from Leicester, for a suspected heart attack before he was airlifted to hospital by Yorkshire Air-ambulance.
