Jacob’s Ladder

Three well equipped and experienced walkers set of for a round walk from Edale village taking them onto Kinder and descending via the Pennine Way back to Edale.  Whilst descending Jacob’s Ladder one of the group, a 49 year old from Manchester, simply slipped and sustained a nasty lower leg injury.

The call-out was originally routed to Kinder Team but as it became apparent that the incident was to the East of Edale Cross, Buxton team was called.

Kinder Low

On returning from a national SARDA training session in the Lake District, Search dog, Zak, with his handler, plus another Peak District dog team, were asked to help in a search on Kinder Scout.

The incident involved a couple from Nottingham who had got disoriented in the darkness and bad weather. For further details, see our post for the team on the same date.
The dog teams were stood down en-route when the couple were located by a Buxton foot section.

Lake District, nr Grassington

Whilst training on a National SARDA course in the Lake District, Search Dog, Zak, and his handler, Nick Smith, were put on stand by, to help police who were conducting a search for a missing person.

The dog team were called out of a training session to help search for a vulnerable male near Grassington. They were stood down when the male was located by police.

Kinder Low

Kinder MRT was unavailable for call-out at the time of this incident so, as neighbours, Buxton MRT was asked to respond following calls for help from couple lost on Kinder Scout above Hayfield.

A couple from Nottingham had been for a day’s walk up Williams Clough and on to Kinder Downfall.  Their descent route took them to Kinder Low but they were soon overtaken by darkness and bad weather.  A mobile phone call to the police raised the alarm but the couple had no map or compass and were unable to give their location.
