Monsal Dale

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to rendezvous at White Lodge car-park on the A6 following a report of a woman suffering an ankle injury.  The casualty’s location was in the most remote part of Monsal Dale midway between the A6 and Monsal Head.   Treatment on site was given by team first-aiders before she was carried on a stretcher along the muddy path back to the roadhead.  Owing to the unavailability of an ambulance, the lady was taken to hospital by her family where an x-ray confirmed a fracture.

Goyt Valley

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team responded to a request from Derbyshire Police to assist in the recovery of a body from a remote location at the head of the Goyt Valley.  No further information currently available for release.

The Roaches, Staffordshire.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called by Staffordshire police following the sighting of red distress flares being fired from the Roaches. There had been three independent sightings of the flares and their significance was emphasised with the report of three climbers being unaccounted for at their nearby bunk-house.

However, the first police officer on site found that the flares had been fired deliberately as part of a film recording.   Mountain rescue, together with the ambulance service and a police helicopter were all stood down.   The film crew were suitably advised by the police about the foolishness of not warning the …

Search Dog, Megan, and her handler, along with other team members, responded to a call-out triggered by distress flares at the Roaches.
