Mam Tor, Y Gully

Whilst not technically a call-out for the team, team skills and equipment were deployed to assist a man cragfast on the face of Mam Tor.  A team member was walking on the Mam Tor ridge when when another walker reported a man fast on the near vertical loose shale of Mam Tor.  Using a rope and basic climbing skills the man was assisted to safety.

Kinder Scout, Southern Edge

A night search training exercise developed a realistic twist when two men walking over Kinder were reported overdue.  The Sheffield men had set off from Chinley railway station in the morning to walk via Kinder Scout to meet a friend in an Edale pub.  When the men were overdue the friend managed to contact them by mobile-phone and learnt that they were lost on the moor.  An hour later, the men still hadn’t turned up and phone contact had been lost.   The friend decided to act and contacted mountain rescue.

Brown Knoll

Second call today.  The Buxton and Edale Snatch Squad was called at 15.10 to attend a casualty who had suffered a significant injury to his leg.   Early confusion regarding the casualty’s location also caused Kinder MRT to be alerted that the man may be on the Hayfield side of Kinder Scout.  However, when the casualty’s location was confirmed, Kinder MRT was stood down and the Snatch Squad accessed the accident site from Brown Knoll via Tipps car park, Upper Booth.

White Edge, Big Moor near Froggatt

The Edale and Buxton Teams’ Joint Snatch called to a mature lady who had been walking with a U3A group from Sheffield when she suffered a medical collapse.   She was treated on site by team and air-ambulance doctors doctors before being carried a short distance for evacuation by helicopter to a Sheffield hospital for treatment.

Leather Smithy, Macclesfield Forest

Buxton MRT called to rendezvous at The Leather Smithy Public House, near Macclesfield Forest, Cheshire.   Kinder MRT and Cheshire Search and Rescue Team had been previously called to assist in the search for a missing vulnerable male.  However, the man was located by police before teams were deployed.
