Bamford Edge

Seven members of Buxton Mountain Rescue Team went to the assistance of colleagues in Edale Mountain Rescue Team responding to a call-out at Bamford Edge.  A male climber had suffered a serious medical collapse whilst on the crag and had been lowered to the ground by his friends.

Grindsbrook, Edale

A joint call-out for the Edale and Buxton Mountain Rescue Teams’ Snatch Squad following the report of an accident in Grindsbrook, a main access path on to Kinder from Edale village.

A 70 year old male had slipped and sustained head injuries in an area known as “Half Way Rocks”.  Following examination by Edale team members and the crew of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, he was walked a short distance to the aircraft and flown to Sheffield Hospital for further examination and treatment.

Capesthorne Hall, Macclesfield.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called to the grounds of Capesthorne Hall, Siddington, near Macclesfield following the report of a lady having suffered a leg injury.  The 55 year old lady was taking part in The East Cheshire Hospice “Star Light Walk” raising money for the local charity.   The walk passes through the Capesthorne Estate which is hardly mountainous but it’s a dark an lonely place on a wet night.  Ground conditions were very wet following recent rain and a simple slip resulted in a …

Roych Clough, Rushop Edge

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to assist the Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service following the report of a 4×4 vehicle having overturned on the track.

Three of the four passengers received minor injuries and were evacuated back to the road in the team’s Land Rover whilst the most serious casualty, with suspected back-injuries, was air-lifted to hospital for further investigation.

Kinder Scout

Buxton’s Search and Rescue Dog “Megan” with handler, Dave Mason, joined the hunt in the early hours on Easter Monday looking for the missing family on Kinder Scout.    See Team Call-out No. 23/2014.
