Blue John Cavern, Castleton

A limited number of team members from the joint Buxton and Edale M.R.Ts’ Snatch Squad attended Blue John Cavern following a report of a female having collapsed in the show cave.

East Midlands Ambulance Service and the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air-ambulance were first on scene and together entered the cave to examine the lady.  The 83 year old was a little bemused by all the fuss and was able to make her own way back to the surface.  The rescue teams left her in the care of …

Hob’s House, Monsal Dale.

Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Teams’ Snatch Squad called to rendezvous at the Monsal Head Hotel following a request for assistance from East Midlands Ambulance Service.  A female walker was reported to be suffering a possible stroke near to Hob’s House on the south side of Monsal Dale. Mountain rescue resources were stood down on route as the air ambulance had managed to reach the lady and transport her to specialist care.

Kinder Scout Plateau

The Kinder Scout search pre-plan was activated by Glossop rescue team following a report of two adults becoming disorientated after darkness fell.

The two people had left Snake Inn on the A57 during the afternoon to visit a landmark on the northern edge of Kinder.  With the early onset of darkness the pair became lost and phoned for assistance.  Glossop, Kinder, Edale and Buxton mountain rescue teams responded together with three search and rescue dogs.

A search party from Glossop team located the people in the catchment groughs of Fairbrook Clough and were escorted back to the Snake road.

Shacklow Woods, Wye Dale

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to rendezvous at White Lodge car-park near the Ashford in the Water following a report to East Midlands Ambulance Service of man having collapsed with a potential heart problem.   The man had been walking with family in Great Shacklow Woods when the problem occurred.    Given the serious nature of the call, Edale Mountain Rescue Team was also called to ensure a fast response with sufficient members.
