Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called together with Edale M.R.T. to Hollins Farm in the Edale Valley.

A female walker from Sheffield had been descending from Hollins Cross with a group of friends when an unfortunate slip resulted in a suspected fracture of her lower leg.  She was treated initially by team members and protected from the elements as further resources arrived.   Following administration of pain relief and splinting she was carried to an East Midlands Ambulance waiting at the roadside for transfer …

Baslow

Search Dog Megan, with handler Dave Mason, called to assist Edale in the search for a missing 19 year old vulnerable person in the Baslow area.

The imminent onset of darkness and light snow increased the urgency of the search.  Fortunately, the missing person was soon located by another agency some distance away from the initial search area.

Ringinglow

Search Dog Megan, with handler Dave Mason, called to assist Edale MRT in the search for a missing vulnerable 70 year old person around Ringinglow near Sheffield.

Fortunately, before the search really got underway, the man was located by a member of the public and treated by the ambulance service.

The Woolpacks, Kinder Scout

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called following a report to police of a man having been injured whilst walking in the Woolpacks area on Kinder Scout.  The 54 year old gentleman from Clay Cross had been walking with a friend when stumble resulted in a suspected fracture of the ankle.

Dense low cloud prevented any assistance from a helicopter so team members had to carry the stretcher and medical equipment up to the accident site.  Following …

Miller’s Dale

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to Miller’s Dale to help Archie, a Golden Labrador.

Archie finds walking along the old railway line with his owners a bit boring and prefers to go chasing rabbits instead.  It was such a chase that landed him in trouble when he found himself stranded on a steep craggy piece of ground, unable to move backwards or forwards.  Despite coaxing he knew better than to attempt the jump and patiently waited for rescue.
