The Roaches, Upper Hulme

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team alerted by Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service to an incident involving gentleman from Uttoxeter.

The gentleman was walking with friends when a pre-existing medical condition caused him to stumble and rendered unable to continue.  Firefighters from Staffordshire FRS were on exercise close by and were able to offer immediate assistance.  A West Midlands Ambulance First-responder unit also attended the incident.

Buxton M.R.T. called to assist Kinder and Glossop rescue teams dealing with an incident involving a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award group on Kinder Scout.

Buxton team was stood down whilst on route with no active involvement.

Chee Dale

A joint call-out for Edale and Buxton Mountain Rescue Team to rendezvous at Millers Dale Station following a report of a man having fallen a considerable distance in Chee Dale.

The elderly gentleman from Coalville in Leicestershire had been walking with his wife when the accident occurred which resulted him tumbling about 30 feet down the bank into the River Wye.  The rescue teams responded quickly but had trouble locating the exact location of the incident.  However, team members worked up and down the river bank and …

Windgather Rocks, Kettleshulme

Buxton Mountain Rescue team called following the report of an incident above Windgather Rocks, near Kettleshulme.

A 31 year old male participating in a fell race had suffered a medical episode causing him to collapse.  The medical episode passed and the man was later able to walk to the road with the assistance of team members and ambulance crew.

Crowden Brook, Edale Valley.

A call-out for Buxton Mountain Rescue Team following the report of an incident in Crowden Brook.

An adult male from the Leicester area had fallen whilst descending Crowden Brook leaving him with a suspected fracture to his finger.  The shock of this had caused the man to feel unwell and initially did not feel able to walk down unaided.   A party member descended the hill to call for help from the phone box at Upper Booth.
