Macclesfield Forest

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called together with Cheshire Search and Rescue Team to search for a 49 year old male from Macclesfield.

The team rendezvoused with other services in Macclesfield Forest to look for the man who had been reported missing the day before and for whom police now had serious concerns.  With little information to work on team members covered many of the myriad of footpaths through the forest but as darkness fell there was still no sign.  Teams were closing down for the night and preparing …

Search Dog Megan, with handler Dave Mason, called to assist search teams to find a 49 year old male from Macclesfield.

A search of the forest and local area failed to locate the male  Teams were closing down for the night and preparing to return the following day when news came in that the man had been located by the police safe and well.

Mam Tor

A joint call-out for Buxton and Edale rescue teams following the report of a 47 year old female from Chapel en le Frith having sustained a suspected ankle fracture whilst walking under Mam Tor near Castleton.

After initial treatment by East Midlands ambulance crew the lady was lifted onto a rescue stretcher for the short carry down to the old Mam Tor road.  There the ambulance was waiting to take her to a Stockport hospital for further examination.

Grindsbrook, Edale

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called along with Edale M.R.T. following the report of three casualties in the upper parts of Grindbrook.  Initial information was sketchy but, with the thoughts of three stretcher evacuations from one of the most difficult areas of Kinder, a Coastguard S-92 helicopter was also alerted.

Wilmslow

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to support Cheshire Search & Rescue following the report of a three year old child missing in the Style area of Wilmslow.  Whilst seventeen members responded few got further than their front door as the child was found safe and well minutes after the initial call.
