Incident report

Mountain Rescue asked to assist Leicestershire Police in dense foggy weather to search for a missing person in the Melton Mowbray area. Search Dog, Zak, with his handler, Nick Smith, from Buxton team responded.

The missing person, a 79 year old man in a depressed state had left his car on a country lane at around 1500 the previous day. Initial searches by police and SARDA dog teams did not locate anything. Continuation of the search was planned for Derby Mountain Rescue team members at first light.

However, at 0500, the gentleman was found by Search Dog, Biscuit, and handler, John Coombs, from Edale team. He was located at the edge of a wood, 1km from the place last seen: sadly, deceased.
