Incident report

A walker from Manchester set out from Glossop yesterday with the intention of walking to Hayfield. As the day progressed the walker became disorientated on Kinder Scout and decided to stay the night, walking off this morning.
Things didn’t go to plan and the gentleman was located by two fell runners early this afternoon who gave him food, water to rehydrate and called 999 asking for the Police, then Mountain Rescue.

Along with Edale Mountain Rescue Team, members were tasked to walk to the top of Grindsbrook. Due to the distance from the road head and with the possibility of a very long carry off in 30-degree heat, Rescue 912 helicopter from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency based at Humberside airport was tasked.

The helicopter then transferred the casualty, a Buxton MRT paramedic and a team member to Edale village to meet up with a land ambulance from East Midlands Ambulance Service
We would like to thank the two fell runners for their prompt action.
