Incident report

A joint Buxton and Edale Team responded to a call out at Edale, late Saturday afternoon, just as it was getting dark.

The casualty, a 47 year old male hill walker from West Bridgeford, Nottingham, was returning to Edale on the Pennine Way between Upper Booth and Edale when he slipped on the muddy surface and sustained a suspected fracture to his lower leg/ankle. He was treated on site by team personnel, given pain relief and his injured leg was splinted. He was then placed onto a mountain rescue stretcher and carried to Edale village.

There the man was transferrred to a land ambulance and taken to the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, for further treatment.
