Incident report

The joint team snatch squad had been alerted to a mountain bike accident but all Buxton members were stood down before arrival at the rendezvous. In the fifteen minutes between call-out and stand-down a number of team members started to make their way towards Plantation car park at Stanage Edge. mount-bike-3

A third party gave this account:  A 20 year old student from Sheffield University, a very exprienced rider, crashed his mountain bike in spectacular fashion. It was first thought that there were significant injuries and the casualty was evacuated by air-ambulance.  Fortunately, it was later discovered that no bones were broken and he was released from Northern General hospital the same evening.

I am the mountain biker that was airlifted. Many thanks for your swift response. It is comforting to know the team are there to help in an emergency.

I’d also like to thank EMAS, Edale and the DRL air ambulance as well as yourselves for working together to get me to hospital as quickly as you did. It was very much appreciated.
