Buxton Mountain Rescue team were called to an incident not far from the Cat and Fiddle road this afternoon.

The casualty, a 37 year old woman from Bollington, was walking with a small family group when she decided to jump over a puddle, landed awkwardly, and broke her right ankle.

She was treated on site, and then carried by stretcher to a waiting ambulance for the onward journey to hospital.

As it was the lady’s birthday, the team felt obliged to sing to her in the customary manner – only she can judge whether this element of care was a soothing tonic, or additional torture!

Thanks for rescuing this person – she is a valued member of staff at Stockport School. We’ll raise some money for you next term! She will have loved the singing as she teaches drama!

    Hello
Thank you for the rendition of Happy Birthday, it warmed the cockles of my heart; a useful tool in combating the hypothermia.
I felt very rescued and have no more desire to jump puddles for fun. I do believe it should be categorised as an adrenaline sport, alongside base jumping perhaps.
I must say you were all fantastic and I will annoy people with my puddle jumping story until they donate large amounts of money to your cause. You totally deserve it, you were amazing.
The paramedics were also great I am sure they felt as happy as I did when you arrived.
Thank you for the ride in the giant wheelbarrow. Combined with the effects of the morphine and the gas and air I must say it made up for not being able to drink on my birthday.
