Incident report

An Edale and Buxton Mountain Rescue snatch squad was activated when the East Midlands Ambulance Service called for assistance at Peveril Castle, Castleton.

A 13 year old girl from Kingsley, Norfolk, staying locally at Gradbach Scout Camp, was walking with a friend down a steep grassy bank inside the castle when one of them slipped and fell onto the girl, knocking her over. She sustained what are believed to be minor lower leg injuries, and was treated on site by an ambulance service paramedic and team personnel.

Following treatment she was placed on our stretcher and carried down the steep path to Castleton village. A waiting ambulance transported her into Buxton’s Minor Injuries Unit for further treatment.
