Incident report

Buxton team called to evacuate a 19 year old male from Parsons Cross who had been visiting the Mamtor area when he decided it would be a laugh to climb the face. Local residents raised the alarm a little over an hour later when it was apparent that the male, a trainee scaffolder, was stuck and could not get up or down on the very loose and hazardous shale face. The youth, who was some 50 metres up from the bottom and above 2 sheer faces was cragfast 1/3 of the way up the face. He was rescued using a Petzl Rescue Nappy and single man rescue system by a team member lowered 100m down from the top of the face.
The grateful and somewhat embarrassed casualty was rescued within 40 minutes of the team being called and was very happy to reach terra firma.
