Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called to Mam Nick to assist the ambulance service with an injured paraglider, near to Lords Seat, on Rushop Edge.

A 59 year old male, from Sheffield, had landed heavily sustaining a suspected fracture to his left ankle.  He was treated on site by the ambulance service paramedics and team personnel.  The North West Air Ambulance also attended – however it couldn’t shut down on the terrain, and the land crew were able to manage the incident.

The casualty was splintered and given pain relief before being loaded onto a mountain rescue stretcher and carried some 500 metres to the roadside at Mam Nick, where he was placed into the waiting ambulance and taken to the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, for further treatment.
