Incident report

Buxton team called on Tuesday afternoon together with Kinder MRT following a telephone call from a male walking on Kinder Scout.

At the time of the call the weather was appalling with heavy snow falling on to ground already covered in deep snow.  The man was caught in a whiteout snowstorm somewhere near to the summit of Mill Hill and began to panic when he realised that he had lost his bearings. Because of the poor road conditions team members struggled to get into the Edale Valley from where Buxton MRT was to start searching.   Some members made it to the rendezvous but a Land Rover shuttle service was being arranged to ferry others in.

Kinder team had more success from the Hayfield side and it was a group of its members which located the man who had managed to start descending Williams Clough.
