Incident report

Following a day of low cloud and extremely poor visibility a gentleman from Nottingham called for advice when he became unsure of his position on Kinder Scout.  Daylight was starting to fail so Kinder and Buxton MRTs were called to start preparations for a search of the western side of the moor.  Following a later phone call with the Duty PDMRO Incident Controller the solo walker was reassured that he was on the right track to return to Edale via Jacobs Ladder.

The rescue teams were stood down but for peace of mind sake, Buxton deployed a vehicle and two members to meet the gentleman as he descended out of the mist into the valley.   A happy ending.

I was just leaving Edale station carpark after taking my dad on a walk up Crowden Clough to Grindsbrook Clough as MRT arrived next to us. There was only 50ft visibility on the tops which meant relying on compass bearings and map reading until we came down.

The speed which Buxton MRT arrived and got prepared was amazing. They do a fantastic job out there and I just wanted to congratulate them for being a fantastic part of the community and being on call for when the time comes.
