Incident report

Three well equipped and experienced walkers set of for a round walk from Edale village taking them onto Kinder and descending via the Pennine Way back to Edale.  Whilst descending Jacob’s Ladder one of the group, a 49 year old from Manchester, simply slipped and sustained a nasty lower leg injury.

The call-out was originally routed to Kinder Team but as it became apparent that the incident was to the East of Edale Cross, Buxton team was called.

19 Buxton members responded to the call meeting at Tipps Car Park for the climb up Jacob’s Ladder via Lee House Farm.   The casualty was examined and treated by team first aiders before being prepared for the descent to the valley.  Poor weather prevented any helicopter assistance so the casualty had to be evacuated the old fashioned way with a stretcher-carry back to Lee House Farm.  The team members were grateful for the assistance of Kinder MRT members who came over the hill and helped carry the rather tall casualty.

The man was then transferred to an ambulance for transport to a Stockport hospital for further treatment.
