Another animal in distress! This time a sheep which had been chased by a pet dog off the lead and had been forced to run into the reservoir. The sheep had swum some distance before beaching itself at the foot of the steepest crag on the reservoir. The sheep had been isolated for two days before the rescue team was called in by a local farmer on Monday evening.
Two members were lowered over the crag down to water level and were able to secure the animal into a make-shift harness. Animal and rescuer were then hauled back up the cragside and to safety.
Photos: 1. Team members secure the animal at the water’s edge. 2. All safe at the top.
