Incident report

Second call today.  The Buxton and Edale Snatch Squad was called at 15.10 to attend a casualty who had suffered a significant injury to his leg.   Early confusion regarding the casualty’s location also caused Kinder MRT to be alerted that the man may be on the Hayfield side of Kinder Scout.  However, when the casualty’s location was confirmed, Kinder MRT was stood down and the Snatch Squad accessed the accident site from Brown Knoll via Tipps car park, Upper Booth.

The casualty had suffered a severe laceration from broken discarded glass when he sank into a deep peat bog whilst crossing the moor.   First aid treatment was carried out by a mountain rescue paramedic before the man was carried by stretcher back to Upper Booth where an ambulance was waiting to transfer him to a Stockport hospital
