Incident report

A number of vehicles became stranded in deep snow on the A623, Tideswell Moor road as the snow continued to fall.

The police were treating the matter seriously as it looked as if the motorist would be stuck in their vehicles overnight.  Buxton and Edale MRTs were asked to ferry the motorists to a place of sanctuary for the night.  Edale MRT was already dealing with another incident on Houdkirk Moor but Buxton team was able to rally members which had just returned from a previous incident.  A fleet of nine team and privately owned 4×4 vehicles had just set off towards Tideswell Moor when the police contacted to say that the obstruction had been moved and all the stranded motorists were able to continue without assistance.
