Incident report

Kinder, Edale and Buxton Mountain Rescue Teams together with two search dogs were called at 18.00 hours to rendezvous at Edale Station car park in readiness for a search of the Southern edge of Kinder Scout following the report of a solo walker becoming benighted on the moor.

The extreme cold and poor visibility prompted a rapid response from the search teams which located the casualty mid way along Grindsbrook at 19.30 hours.  The walker, who was fit and well, had simply underestimated the severity of his intended route and became benighted without a torch.  Casualty escorted to Edale.
