Staunton Harold Reservoir

Search dog, Megan, and handler Dave Mason, along with two other dog teams called to assist Derby MRT with a search for a missing person.

The 49 year old vulnerable male was reported to be in the area of Staunton Harold reservoir, in south Derbyshire.

The missing person was located safe and well by Derby MRT members inside the search area.

Kinder Scout, Western Edges

Buxton Searchdog, Zak, with handler and navigator, together with a dog team frm Glossop, called to assist Kinder MRT with a search for a group of 4 young persons on a DofE expedition.

One of the party had sustained an ankle injury and the party had missed their path as night and cloud descended. However, they were able to call in with a grid reference. A Kinder section located them under Cluther Rocks and escorted them off the hill.

The dog teams were returned to base.

Wirksworth area

Search dogs and handlers from Buxton Mountain Rescue Team, together with dog teams from two other Peak District MRTs were called to support Derby MRT in searching a quarry near Wirksworth for a missing male.

The body of the missing man was located on a ledge, approx. 60 feet below the edge of a cliff-face by a Buxton dog team. The man was recovered by Derby Team with support from the dog handlers.

Cheadle Heath, Stockport

Search dog, Megan, and handler Dave, along with other search dogs from Woodhead MRT, Glossop MRT, and Calder Valley SRT called to assist Oldham MRT in the Cheadle Heath area of Stockport to search for a missing vulnerable female.

Dogs, handlers and team members worked through torrential rain into the night when all of the identified areas had been searched without result.

Police enquiries ongoing.

St. Buryan, Cornwall

Search dog Megan, and her handler were called to assist Cornwall Search and Rescue Team with the search for a 43 year old vulnerable male in the St Buryan area.

The search also involved air assets from RNAS Culdrose and local HM Coastguard rescue teams. It was concluded in the evening when the male was located safe and well outside of the initial search area.

St. Trudy, Cornwall

Search Dog, Megan, and handler were called to assist Cornwall Search and Rescue Team with a search around the village of St. Tudy.

A vulnerable male had been reported missing at 2000 the previous night. As local police enquiries had failed to locate him, a search was started. This was stood down at 1800 without a find.

Joint enquiries with police and Penisula Mountain and Cave Rescue Association (PENMaCRA) continue.

Long Eaton

Search Dog, Zak, with handler, Nick Smith, called with another Peak District Search Dog to assist Derby MRT to search a 4 mile section of canal at Long Eaton for a vulnerable 43 year old female who had been reported missing.

Nothing was found. However, as the search teams were de-briefing, the Police informed search control that the female had been located safe and well outside of the search areas.

Search Dog, Zak, along with handler, Nick Smith, and a navigator, were called to assist Kinder Mountain Rescue Team in a search for a vulnerable male.

They were stood down en-route when the missing person was located, deceased, by a member of Kinder MRT.
