Macclesfield Harriers do it in the dark!

On Wednesday evening, 13th November, the Macclesfield Harriers held their gruelling annual orienteering event in the Rainow area attracting more than 20 runners ranging from the experienced elite to novice juniors.

The event always raises money for charity and this year £100 was donated to the Buxton Mountain Rescue Team.   Kerry Clarke, a senior team member took part together with Hazel Winder, a retired member.

The course followed steep and rough footpaths in the Rainow area where the conditions underfoot were muddy and very slippery.   The dark, cold, showery night and the extreme conditions took their toll on runners but all safely returned .

Kerry said “ We are very grateful to the Macclesfield Harriers for organising this annual event, it was great fun.   Their wonderful donation is gratefully received and will be put to good use in assisting those in need of our services.”
