Elephant Raffle at Chapel Haberdashery
Sew Chapel Haberdashery is in the The Old Hearse House which, built in 1818, is where the parish undertaker’s cart was housed with maybe one or two customers. The small room upstairs was occupied by the undertaker to watch over his clients in a time when body snatching was prevalent. An unusual setting for a haberdashery but the curious building is now brightly lit and packed with all your sewing and knitting essentials.
Proprietor, Gail, organised a raffle for Chapel Carnival week and, with the knitted prizes displayed in the shop window, customers were generous with their ticket purchases. Team member, Roger Bennett, went down to the shop on Saturday morning to draw the three winning tickets. First Prize went to the elephant; that’s the prize not the lucky lady who won it!
The team sends a huge Thank You to Gail and her friends for organising the raffle and to all the customers who between them raised a sincerely appreciated £170 for team funds.
