Buxton M.R.T. becomes sainsbury's (Buxton) charity of the year.

YOU did it!   “THANK YOU”

Buxton Mountain Rescue sends a huge “Thank You” to all those who responded to our request to visit Sainbury’s web-site and vote for Buxton Mountain Rescue Team to become the store’s Buxton branch, Charity of the Year.
The team heard just this week that B.M.R.T. had topped the public poll and would be adopted as the Sainsbury’s Buxton branch, charity in a scheme that will provide support for the team for the next twelve months.  All the collection boxes in the Market Place store will be regularly counted and the takings handed over to the team.  There is also an opportunity for the team to have special events at the shop and raise money in co-operation with the store.
Team Fundraising co-ordinator, Andy Humberstone said, “This is a terrific opportunity for the rescue team and we look forward to working with the store to help with our funding.  The team needs to raise around £35,000 per year in order to remain operational and this support from Sainsbury’s is a real help.”
The rescue team was quick to take advantage of the arrangement when Sainsbury’s offered to supply some of the food consumed at a B.B.Q. held on Thursday night for those who had done something special to help the team in the last year.  Sainsbury’s local Manager, Mathew Stone, (who is also Buxton’s new Mayor.) attended the B.B.Q. and met with some of the team members and supporters.

We send a huge THAN YOU to the people of Buxton for voting for the team and to SAINSBURY’s for their help.
