600 mile cycle challenge to raise £2,500

£2,500 is the target Hassan Pillai has set himself to raise money for Buxton Mountain Rescue Team.  His challenge is to cycle the 600 mile route from Mizen Head to Malin Head in Ireland.

Hassan had cause to call Buxton Team in 2014 whilst walking on Kinder and has set himself a stiff challenge to repay the team for its services.  Hassan is no stranger to long distances in the great outdoors having completed the Coast to Coast in 2003, LEJOG (End to End) in 2015, and a triple Eco Challenge (three big circuits) in 2016.

The Mizen to Malin route is the Irish equivalent of Britain’s Land’s End to John O’Groats  but following the west coast of Ireland it includes some of the most rugged and wildest coastline the UK can offer.

The first £750 raised will be generously matched by a donation from Barclay’s Bank so that would be a real boost towards the target!

The rescue team will be more than grateful for every penny Hassan can raise and the money will be ring-fenced specifically to sponsor a new  digital radio system.  This is an expensive project forced upon the charity by a national change of frequency at a likely cost of £15,000.   48 sets are needed, plus a mobile unit mounted in each of our four vehicles so please, please visit Hassan’s My-Donate page to offer him your encouragement.

Hassan sets off on 16th September so please watch this page for further details.
