Incident report

The team was called out to a climber who injured their leg whilst on a climb at the Roaches. Their leg was extremely painful and the casualty found that they were unable to continue either up or down the crag to safety. The casualty was made safe on a ledge by members of their party, and mountain rescue alerted.

The team arrived on scene and quickly set up a rope system and lowered a team member to assess the casualty on the ledge they were lying on. The casualty was given pain relief before their leg was splinted and they were transferred to a mountain rescue stretcher.

Once secured on the stretcher, they were lowered down to the base of the crag, where they were assessed by waiting paramedics from Officialwmas

The casualty was then transported to the road head and waiting ambulance for onward transport to hospital.
