Incident report

On Friday 30th March, Buxton and Edale mountain rescue teams were called to an incident below Hollins Cross, Castleton. A female walker had slipped in wet and muddy conditions and sustained an ankle injury. Mountain rescue team members at Edale Team’s base in Hope and Buxton team members fund raising in Castleton were quickly on scene. Due to the nature of the injuries, medical support from the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance was requested.

Following the administration of pain relief and stabilisation of the injury, the casualty was evacuated on a mountain rescue stretcher to the helicopter for onward transport to hospital.
