Incident report

The team was called, along with with Edale Mountain Rescue Team, as part of the mid week “snatch” call out to Bamford Edge to assist a fallen climber. The climber, who was free climbing (no rope, no climbing aids) at the time, and fell about 8 metres. Team members assisted paramedics from the  East Midlands Ambulance Service to carefully place the male casualty onto a stretcher for a short carry to the waiting Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance. The casualty was then flown to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield for further treatment.

Two mountain rescue teams, and two emergency services were involved in the recovery of the climber, at the start of what was to be a very busy Bank Holiday period for the local voluntary mountain rescue teams.
