Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called by West Midlands Ambulance Service after receiving a 999 call reporting a fallen climber at The Roaches, Roaches October Upper Hulme, Staffordshire.

A 27 year old female novice climber fell to the ground when her climbing protection failed. The fall resulted in an open fracture of her lower leg.

West Midlands Ambulance staff were first on scene closely followed by team members who had been marshalling an organised event in Buxton.  As the team arrived West Midlands Air-ambulance was landing on the coll in the gloomy light.   Following treatment on scene the casualty was placed on a rescue stretcher and then passed hand over hand up the crag and then carried to the waiting aircraft.

My name is ****** ****** and was lucky enough to survive a fall at the Roaches last Sunday. More than that I had the privilege of using your invaluable service. Thank you to you for the care that so many of you provided for me last weekend and everything that came with that care. I felt in the best hands and at ease as best I could. I wish I was able to thank more personally each of you but hopefully this message will be shown to the right people.
