Incident report

Buxton Team together with colleagues from Derby and Kinder Teams assembled at the Waterloo Inn, Taddington for a pre-arranged police search involving a missing male.

The local man has been missing for some time. Police enquires had identified a number of areas in the Taddington Dale and Monsal Dale areas, where he may have met with an accident.

Mountain rescue personnel were deployed into the steep, heavily wooded dale sides, which also included a number of cliff faces. Searching this sort of terrain presents some degree of difficulty for rescuers and is very labour intensive.

During the day, a number of items were recovered but they were not related to this incident.

Neil Carruthers, Buxton Team Leader said “ Unfortunately we were unable to bring closure to this particular incident. If and when more information becomes available as to the location of this missing man, we will be very happy to return. This weekend has been a little busy with call-outs and I am grateful to colleagues for their constant willingness to respond and good humour’
