Incident report

Buxton team members at base following an exercise were called to assist Kinder team in the evacuation of a 72 year old male from Shaw who had become unwell suffering with chest pains.  One vehicle with crew of 5 was deployed direct to scene, and further members along with Kinder team and an EMAS paramedic provided back up. In light of the serious nature of the condition, the duty Controller requested an air evacuation, which due to the poor weather conditions could only be achieved using RAF SAR helicopter.  The closest aircraft at RAF Leconfield was out of service and a second aircraft from RAF Valley was scrambled and used to winch the casualty out and fly him directly to Wythenshawe hospital.
