Incident report

Buxton mountain rescue team were called from Chatsworth to assist Edale team to treat a 30 year old male climber who had fallen from the Barlborough area. He was climbing in the Bishops Wall area when he fell; his protection failed and he hit the bottom of the crag,  sustaining a compound elbow injury, spinal and pelvic injuries. He was treated on site by mountain rescue doctors and air ambulance paramedics, packaged and evacuated by stretcher to the waiting helicopter at Hooks Carr.  He was then flown to the Chesterfield Royal Hospital for further treatment.
