Incident report

Buxton team called to evacuate a 31 year old female from Whaley Bridge who fell ca 10metres whilst leading Rupert Bear goes hiking, (VS/4c). The casualty who had originally planned to climb indoors, changed plans at the last minute due to fine weather, and had sustained head and back injures and had also been briefly unconscious. East Midlands Ambulance control had requested an RAF Seaking due to the potential for serious injury that had been reported and after treatment on site by EMAS paramedics and team members, the casualty was loaded onto a spinal board and Bell Stretcher before being airlifted to Macclesfield Hospital, a 5 minute flight. Retrieval of stretcher and other kit took closer to 3 hours.

An email from the casualty today has indicated that apart from some cuts and bruises, she is remarkably well and has suffered no significant injuries. We wish her a speedy recovery and lots of climbing in the years to come.
